OUR

History

City of Hope Houston was born out of a God-given vision to create a church where people can
encounter Jesus Christ, experience authentic community, and be made whole spiritually,
psychologically, and emotionally. From the very beginning, City of Hope has been built on the belief
that no matter a person’s background, story, or season of life, hope can still be found in Christ.

City of Hope Houston was officially incorporated on September 10, 2024. Soon after, the church held
its first Church Launch Vision Meeting on September 28, 2024, where the vision for the ministry was
shared with those who gathered to hear the heart and direction of what God was birthing.

From September 2024 through October 2025, City of Hope moved through an online and preparatory
ministry phase. During that season, the ministry focused on prayer, vision casting, planning, and
laying the spiritual and organizational foundation for what would become a public worshiping church
family.

A major milestone came on Sunday, October 5, 2025, when City of Hope Houston officially launched
its in-person worship services at Current – A Christian Church in Katy, Texas. That inaugural service
marked the beginning of City of Hope as a gathered worshiping congregation and included the
church’s first sermon series, Surviving the Fire, preached by Pastor Darick L. Rutley, Sr., as well as
the church’s first Holy Communion.

City of Hope began its in-person ministry with 14 founding members and has continued to grow as a
church family centered on worship, prayer, biblical teaching, and hope-filled community. Since its
launch, the church has celebrated important milestones, including the launch of Hope Kids Children’s
Ministry on December 14, 2025, and the church’s first baptisms on February 1, 2026.

Today, City of Hope Houston continues to serve individuals and families throughout the Katy and
West Houston area with a commitment to helping people grow in faith, heal from life’s challenges,
and discover purpose in Christ. What started as a vision from God has become a growing ministry
built on prayer, compassion, discipleship, and the life-changing message of Jesus.

As we continue to move forward, our prayer is that City of Hope will remain a place where people
encounter the presence of God, experience genuine love, and find lasting transformation. Our story is
still being written, and we believe the best is yet to come.

MEET

Our Pastor

Pastor Darick Rutley, affectionately known as P.D., has been preaching the gospel for over 20 years. He is an anointed worship leader, clinician, musician, teacher, and preacher. Pastor Darick, has been featured in seminars, radio programs, national television appearances, major record label CD projects, and many other means of social and public platforms.

He's always had a heart for those who are gifted in the arts (worship leaders, musicians, and ministers of music). He is also passionate about making an impact on the lives of everyone he encounters. In October of 2020, after serving in ministry in metro-Detroit, MI all of his life, Pastor Darick and his family moved to Houston, TX to further pursue ministry.

He is the husband of Stephanie; father of three daughters and one son; Madisen, Taylor, Morgan, Darick, Jr.
